Dear Friend,

Standing on the Side of Love is the right message for these times. We are the right people to carry that message. With your help, we can take our message out into a world that hungers for love.

In the short months since we launched this campaign, we have seen tremendous growth and remarkable response. Over and over, when we take this message into the streets and into communities, we are met with one word: YES!!

When the Standing on the Side of Love task force from the Unitarian Universalist church in Cambridge, Massachusetts, went up to Maine to knock on doors for marriage equality, they wondered if it was presumptuous to take their own message on t-shirts and signs. They agreed to discreetly show their Standing on the Side of Love materials to Maine organizers, to see if the message would help or hinder.

When the Maine organizers for marriage equality saw the Standing on the Side of Love signs, they literally began to cry in gratitude.

Standing on the Side of Love is the right message for these times. We are the right people to carry that message. Your gift to the Standing on the Side of Love campaign enables more and more communities to gather on the side of love.

When a rally took place at the Massachusetts State House to demand that CNN stop promoting Lou Dobbs as a credible news source, the “Basta Dobbs” organizers had a similar response. Many of the community organizers took up the slogan in their remarks at the press conference: “Love! That is what the Latino community is all about!”

When Rev. Louis Shockley, an African American minister in Washington, D.C., saw Standing on the Side of Love banners at the marriage equality interfaith service his church hosted, he said the same thing. “For 173 years, this former slave congregation has been standing on the side of love.” He was quoted in the Washington Post.

Everywhere we go, this message resonates. We believe it has the power, in this historical moment when love and fear struggle to emerge victorious, to bend the moral arc of the world towards love and justice. Your cash donation to Standing on the Side of Love powers our getting the message out together.

Take Action: Please make a gift right now so that we can use this message to change the world.

Love,
Meg
