Fear of the unknown quantity makes ignorant people act like savages. Let's continue to try to educate the masses, and love each child for who they are not what someone else thinks they should be.

I guess the "gender law" is a forbidding law to break - like crossing the race line in the south (yes, I know, in the north too). Apparently it is so fundamental to people's experience and identity that to violate it is very, very threatening. That must be the source of such intense hatred and violence. I can understand the shock of transgression; the gender law is fundamental to how small children learn about the world. I can understand feelings of shock people may have when their world is shaken. But my heavens, such violence? Such rage? Hatred makes them turn people into things and the killers lose their own humanity in the process. Some terror inside must make them do these terrible things.
I pray for Theresa who said she is living under a death threat. Please take care of yourself. That's all I can say; I wish there was more I could do.

Thank you for posting this moving video. This persecution must end. As long as one of us is oppressed, we all are.

I feel horrified at the lack of human conscience that anybody would be so threatened at the prospect that another human being might make the private decision to be the man or woman that he or she was born to be. it does no harm to be true to ourselves! the fact that others are so deeply ignorant, so deeply disturbed, so deeply disconnected from the source that binds us deeply frightens and saddens me. may we shout our love from the top of our souls that only love, worth, and dignity shall prevail!

I found this moving but can't help wondering how many more are such victims? It certainly looks like Brazil is either a hotbed of repression (not to be overlooked in our southern "macho" neighbors) or else doing great job of investigating and accurately reporting which makes one wonder about deaths in other countries.

Deeply saddening, especially when I contemplate that this is the tip of the iceberg of violence some face. And I am troubled by the shock that one was killed in my city of San Francisco.

when will the hate end. the excuse of religion or regional laws in this day and time to discriminate against anyone is just unjust. we need laws to protect all people for any race, gender, or sexual orientation. we label everything to promote hate. lets love all and celebrate their life for the love they share. too many haters out there just because they have something to hide.

I thank you for showing this. I know personally what it is like. I am transsexual and am living under a death threat right now. I always just hope that I don't end up on the list.

Blessings to all the love ones and families who lost a loved one due to others ignorance.
Everyone deserves to be loved. Hate and discrimination will never be tolerated. I believe the reason that men and women hate is because they have many insecurities within themselves. God made all of us in His image. God is perfect, so therefore He makes no mistakes. So before anyone decides to discriminate or hurt another, remember what color we All bleed and what emotions we All feel when we are hurt or are persecuted?

Thank you for posting this video. I hadn't seen it before and I found it very moving. I also hadn't realized the sheer number of trans people being killed in Brazil. Its definitely something to think about.

Please also keep in mind that this list represents only a partial list of those harmed by anti-trans violence. Many others were killed in other parts of the world but either were not recorded or not recognized as trans. In addition, for each person slain, many suffer from daily anti-trans violence and survive. The Day of Remembrance is about ending all anti-trans violence.

i have worked with transgender people and i find it absolutely unbelievable that these human beings listed in this video were murdered. i wonder why so many are with spanish surnames? do their murders have something to do with that fact? the culture, the religion (s) in these parts of the world? just wondering.
