National Equality March

Over 1,000 people marched under the SSL banner

On October 11th, 2009, we participated in the National Equality March, with 1,500 people marching under the Standing on the Side of Love banner. The march in DC made national news with its demand of equal protection for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in all matters governed by civil law in all 50 states, and many who couldn’t make it to DC held local events.

Reimagine Valentine’s Day

On February 14th, 2010, we invited congregations to re-imagine Valentine’s Day, hosting more than 150 local events. It was a day of worship and action, with each community focusing on issues that mattered locally – immigration reform, marriage equality, and raising money for victims of the earthquake in Haiti.

March for America

On March 21st, 2010, we participated in the March for America, with over 100 people rallying under the Standing on the Side of Love banner. Altogether, more than 200,000 people participated in the event, which called for comprehensive immigration reform.

Cards for Congress

WE STAND ON THE SIDE OF LOVE

In April 2010, we stood on the side of love on Capitol Hill, delivering the Petition for Full Equality and Immigration Cards to Congress. We collected more than 15,000 cards for immigration reform and signatures for marriage equality.
