Reimagining Valentine’s Day

International Standing on the Side of Love Day was a smashing success!
Sunday, February 14th, 2010 will be “National Standing on the Side of Love Day.” Join us and celebrate a Valentine’s Day re-imagined. Love is about more than romance, greeting cards and chocolates. We want to celebrate love’s power to transform communities!
Get Involved
On this day, congregations across the nation will participate in a day of worship and practice works of love. National Standing on the Side of Love (SSL) Day empowers each congregation to take action on issues that matter locally, and to pursue strategies that are effective and meaningful to them. Over 100 congregations are already participating, find an event near you.
Three Simple Things We Can All Do
1. Take a photo of you standing on the side of love – whatever that means to you. We are looking for creative, inspiring, and fun photos. Please visually include the Standing on the Side of Love message and/or logo. Feel free to modify our message and logo to fit your interpretation.
2. Upload Your Photos for Our Slideshow: The week after Valentine’s Day we will make a photo slideshow and post it to YouTube. We will then take your photos on a road trip and project them in Washington, D.C., New York City and Boston. Upload your photo to our web site by 9am EST, Tuesday, February 15th to have them included in the slide show.
3. Receive an Offering: Your congregation is vital to the efforts of the Standing on the Side of Love campaign to combat acts of exclusion, oppression and violence. During your worship service or event, please ask for generous contributions to provide this campaign with essential resources to effect positive social change and justice in your community. Without your support, the Standing on the Side of Love campaign will be forced to shut down within months and our growing voice of love and reason will be silenced.
