Change Takes Courage and Faith
Sunday, March 21, was a monumental success. Rally organizers estimate that 200,000 people rallied on the National Mall to call for comprehensive immigration reform. Under a bright sunny day, many speakers addressed the crowd, including President Obama via a video message. Five gallon buckets were used as drums and a steady rhythm pulsed through the crowd. Shouts of “si se puede!” regularly rang out.
Standing on the Side of Love signs and buttons were grabbed up in no time – love was needed by those in attendance. Over 100 people traveled to rally under the Standing on the Side of Love banner, and many more joined us on the spot. It was a beautiful display of unity that couldn’t be missed by anyone on Capitol Hill.

We want Congress to know, indisputably, that we expect them to pass immigration reform this year. So we will deliver thousands of cards calling for comprehensive immigration reform to Congress on April 12th, the very first day Congress returns from a two-week recess. And we won’t just bundle them up and drop them off; we are going to deliver them in a much more compelling and memorable way than that. Stay tuned ☺!
Here is how it works:
1. Order them!
Order cards from our website. In order to cover costs, we are selling them at the low price of 10 for $1.50. Order cards here.
2. Sign them!
Get the cards signed in your congregation on March 14, 21, and/or 28. Consider putting a card in each order of service and having folks fill them out during the service – a collective action for love. You can also get them signed out in your broader community.
3. Mail them!
Mail your cards to the Standing on the Side of Love Campaign at 1100 G. St. NW suite 800, Washington, D.C. 20005 – please get them in the mail by April 2nd.
